Nineveh Provincial Council member Layal Al-Bayati revealed today, Monday, that there are interferences in the Nineveh Education file, which require parties to control this file and administrative orders issued by the Minister of Education.
Al-Bayati said in a statement that “there are impacts on the settlement of the staff in Nineveh Education and administrative orders issued by the Minister of Education under pressure from politicians to transfer department managers, employees and craftsmen in Nineveh Education, which has turned its reality into a deplorable reality.”
Al-Bayati added, “More than 200 transfer cases in Tal Afar were issued by the Director of Nineveh Education,” noting that “most of the district’s schools have become vacant and the residents have organized a protest in this regard in front of the Tal Afar mayor’s office to demand the provision of good educational services to their children in schools that are now complaining of vacancies in their educational cadres due to politicians’ control over the transfer file.”
For his part, an informed source in Nineveh revealed that there were interventions by political parties and some representatives in the work of the Nineveh Education Directorate, stressing that these interventions resulted in the transfer of a large number of teaching staff and the appointment of some of them to important positions despite the fact that they were contract employees.
The source said, "More than 250 teachers were transferred, based on recommendations from male and female deputies, from the western Nineveh areas to Mosul, which affected the settlement of the staff in Nineveh Education."
The source pointed out that a department director was appointed in education upon the recommendation of a member of parliament, indicating that the director had previously held the rank of craftsman before he was promoted in his career.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Education appointed two employees on the recommendation of parties as officials in the primary division and the secondary staff division, despite the fact that they were on contracts and were recently appointed in 2023.
The source explained that members of the Nineveh Council met with the governorate’s education director and discussed with him the interventions of male and female deputies in transferring hundreds of male and female teachers, in addition to appointing department directors in violation of the conditions and outside the job description of the department, which led to a decline in the educational level of students.
