    The Diyala provincial council on Friday warned of a policy of "flooding" the markets of the province with imported agricultural crops, noting that Diyala is losing 1,000 farmers annually due to the adoption of import policy within the province.
     
    The head of the Diyala Council Ali al-Daini, said in an interview with "Baghdad Post", that the province of Diyala agricultural province and depends on 60% of its population on the agricultural sector to secure their sources of livelihood, but this sector has been witnessing several years of major challenges, notably the indiscriminate import of agricultural crops from neighboring countries Consider the seriousness of local production.
     
    He added, "Daini," there is a deliberate invasion of markets with imported crops with the start of local production to hurt farmers and inflict heavy losses, warning of the seriousness of such actions and their impact on the end of the agricultural sector.
     
    He pointed out that Diyala province annually loses more than 1000 farmers because of the policy of dumping the imported crops because of their large losses, which leads them to work in other occupations to secure their sources of livelihood, calling for "the need to protect the local product and support it as a basis in the food security system in the country.
