The European Police Mission in Iraq described the Iraqi security services as inflation and increase the number, and not to adapt to peacetime.

The head of the mission, German security expert Markus Ritter said in a press statement: "It is necessary to adapt the Iraqi security apparatus to a large extent on the times of peace," noting that: "After defeating the organization of a supporter of the face of Iraq is a major task is to restructure its security and reduce it to fit with Times of peace ".
"The biggest challenge is to reduce the security apparatus, because there are too many weapons in Iraq and very heavily armed forces," Ritter said.

"The Iraqi police are largely paramilitary, because their work is fully focused on fighting a militant organization, and the fight against terrorism in Iraq is carried out by military means only," he said, adding that it was important to reduce the security apparatus because the government It can not afford to finance this huge device alone.

Iraq has a European police mission, which includes a team of 35 security experts from various European countries, to advise the Iraqi Interior Ministry and the Office of the National Security Advisor. The one-year mission expires in mid-October.
