The head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc in the Iraqi parliament, Arafat Karam, that his bloc will not participate in the extension of the House of Representatives, describing the extension as "unconstitutional."

Karam said in a media statement, "We will boycott any session dealing with the extension of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, so we will boycott the session Sunday," explaining that the extension "violation of Articles 66 and 67 of the Iraqi Constitution, where the Constitution said that the duration of the parliamentary session four years, In the absence of the adoption of the general budget, extending the parliamentary term only, so the extension of the parliamentary session is a violation of the Constitution.

He added that "the main motive for parties seeking to extend the parliamentary session is the desire of those parties to sabotage the political process, and the issuance of laws to serve the interests of the parties that did not win the elections, and we did not block the Iraqi Council of Representatives, but boycotted meetings intended to extend."

It is scheduled to end the current session of the Iraqi Council of Representatives on 30 of June, and has gathered a number of parliamentarians signatures to extend this session until the formation of the new Iraqi government.
