Shafaq News / Dia al-Asadi, director of the political body of the Sadrist movement, said that the leader of the late Muqtada al-Sadr is qualified to play a direct political role in Iraq, but he personally ruled out going this way.
Al-Asadi said in an interview with the French website "Orientxxi", which was viewed by Shafak News, as to why Muqtada al-Sadr refused to run for elections "I think the duty should not be directly involved in the political game." Sadr prefers to be an observer and a supervisor of the regime as a whole. As a cleric, it is his duty to set red lines that serve the interests of the Iraqis, he would like to intervene when the people need this intervention without engaging in the political game. "
"He has said several times that politics is not the place of the cleric, but if you are not sure when a cleric wants to engage in politics, he must remove his turban so as not to deceive anyone."
He was asked, "Do you think he will take off his turban one day?" "He has all the features and tools to do this, but I do not think he will."
"Obviously, he wants to play the role of father and elder brother, by taking care of all his sons, not only his Sadr children, but all Iraqis," he said.
According to the declared results of the elections, the coalition supported by Sadr, "Saron" 54 seats out of the total number of seats in the parliament, which is 329 seats.
Sadr will not be prime minister because he has not run for office, but is likely to play a key role in forming the new government.
Sadr hopes to form a coalition capable of fighting corruption, improving the deteriorating economic situation and rebuilding Iraq after years of invasion and war.
