Tehran calls on Baghdad to oppose US embargo against Iran

The Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjidi, called on Baghdad to oppose the US embargo against his country, saying that "this ban harms the Iraqi people before others."
"What we expect from the Iraqi government is to object to this American move," Masjedi told a news conference.
On Iran's position on the authorization of Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi, the Iranian ambassador said that Abadi later made clear that he intended to abide by (the ban) not to deal with the dollar. "
"No one in Iraq supports the embargo and the embargo measures are not applicable mainly because they harm the interests of the Iranian and Iraqi people," he said.
The Iranian ambassador called on the governments of the countries not to abide by a unilateral American ban because these prohibitions are illegal and unilateral. "The Iranian Islamic republic is not afraid of America or anyone," he said.
"We provide Iraq with any weapon it wants, but the last issues put forward by Israel are to provoke the atmosphere and propaganda purposes only," he said, referring to Israel's alleged attacks on alleged targets belonging to Iran inside Iraqi territory.
"These threats are an insult to the Iraqis and an interference in their internal affairs. We expect the Iraqis to respond to themselves and not to allow the Zionists to get used to interfering in their affairs," the Iranian ambassador said.
"The bilateral relations between Iran and Iraq, including defense and defense cooperation, are only related to them, and no other party has the right to intervene and express their opinion," he said.
The mosque announced the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to cooperate with the new Iraqi government in the field of reconstruction and reconstruction.
