Iran calls on Iraqi ambassador to Tehran

The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the recall of the Iraqi ambassador in Tehran to deliver a letter of protest about the Iranian consulate in the southern city of Basra.
"The ambassador was summoned to protest against the failure of the Iraqi security forces to protect the building of the Iranian Consulate General in Basra," Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasimi said.
Tehran called on the Iraqi authorities in a letter of protest to identify the identities of those responsible for the attack on the consulate and hold them accountable.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the attack on its consulate in Basra, describing the action as "barbaric, barbaric and immoral", while the Iraqi government took responsibility for it.
