Obeidi presents himself as a candidate for the post of speaker of parliament
The head of the list of the victory coalition in Nineveh Khalid al-Obeidi, on Tuesday, to run for the post of speaker of parliament, while his media office indicated that al-Obeidi has the potential to lead the parliament.
The office said in a statement that "the head of the list of the victory coalition in Nineveh Khalid al-Obeidi decided to nominate for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives as a candidate to resolve the differences," noting that "this was the result of political pressure signed for him to run for himself."
"Obaidi is a figure who has the potential to lead the parliament in the next stage," he said, adding that he was "in the political and popular circles of the various Iraqi factions."
Khalid al-Obeidi won during the parliamentary elections held on May 12, when he nominated the list of victory for the province of Nineveh.
