[Asharq Al-Awsat] Former Deputy Prime Minister Saleh al-Mutlaq revealed that Iran threatened him with physical liquidation in public after the demonstrations against Iraqis near the Fakkah oil field between the two countries against Iranian overtures.
Al-Mutlaq said in a television interview that "a leader in one of the political blocs (not named) told me that Iran recognizes you and your choice between physical liquidation or political liquidation, and there are witnesses to this talk."
He added the Sunni political leader that "another meeting brought me by the Iranian ambassador (not named) to Iraq in 2010, in the home of the leader of the National Coalition Iyad Allawi, and said: You brought us demonstrations and we want to prevent the removal of ablation about you?"
He explained that the Iranian ambassador's speech came when he was uprooted by the law of "de-Baathification" in 2010, which was then lifted and became deputy prime minister Nuri al-Maliki, and then remained in the same position of the government of Haider Abadi in 2014 before the dismissal of the first amendment.
