Iran's oil minister, Begin Zengane, said the US sanctions currently imposed on Tehran are tougher than the war Iran had waged with Iraq for eight years under Saddam Hussein.

The minister said Tehran would not allow the United States to halt its oil exports, criticizing the position of Greece and Italy for not buying oil from his country despite receiving exemptions from Washington.

"There is no European country buying oil from Iran except for Turkey," Zanganeh said in remarks broadcast by the ISNA news agency.

"Under the signed contract, Iran gets 50 percent of the revenue in cash and 50 percent of the goods from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union," the minister said.

Zangane refused to provide clarifications on whether the barter contract with Moscow is still in force.
