"The Iraqi people will not allow the American presence to continue under any formula," former interior minister MP Mohammed al-Ghabban said on Thursday. "What Americans are saying, either through Trump or other officials, is a flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty."
Al-Ghabban said in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that "what the Americans are saying, whether through Trump or other officials, is a flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty, because such statements and in light of our rejection of any American presence in any form , Is a dangerous escalation endangering Iraq's security and interests, as well as destabilizing the entire region. "
"The Iraqi people will not allow this presence to continue under any formula. We also reject the use of Iraqi territory as a launching pad for aggression against neighboring countries. "
"The Iraqi government and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces must take clear positions on such statements and not tolerate such an issue under any pretext or pretext because it would affect the course of future bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States," he said. Ending / 25
