    , said a security source in Basra province, on Thursday, that the customs police arrested inside the Shalamcheh border port of an Iraqi accused of trying to smuggle the Iraqi currency worth five million counterfeit dinars. 

    The source said in an interview with Alsumaria News that "a detachment of customs police in the fourth area arrested during the performance of duty in the passenger lounge at the port of Shalamjah border in the district of the Shatt al-Arab an Iraqi accused of trying to smuggle a false amount to Iraq ."

    The source, who asked not to be named, said that "the detachment seized five million dinars in the suspect's possession of the category of 25 thousand dinars." 

    The province of Basra has seen in the past years the arrest of a number of accused of trading fake money, and late 2017 were arrested accused of owning a printing press for counterfeit currency includes modern equipment for forgery using phosphoric inks.
