| BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said constitutional amendments were needed in Iraq, citing legitimate demands for the resignation of the government. [size=45]The proposed constitutional amendment could change the nature of the political system and the entire electoral law.[/size] [size=45]The Iraqi Prime Minister revealed that the Council of Ministers submitted an amendment to the elections of provincial councils "aimed at redressing the independents."[/size] [size=45]He said that the current demonstrations have diagnosed accumulated errors since 2003 until now, citing Iraqi television.[/size] [size=45]Many economic and social mistakes had not been properly and radically addressed.[/size] [size=45]Abdel-Mahdi admitted on Tuesday that the demonstrations that began since early October are moving in the right direction.[/size] |
