{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The General Union of Agricultural Cooperative Societies threatened, on Thursday, to cut off the roads leading to oil refineries if the agricultural calendar was not applied.
Federation President Haider Al-Asad said in a statement that he received {Al Furat News} a copy of it, “The agricultural crowds give the government, the concerned authorities and relevant ministries until next Monday to work to activate the agricultural calendar, protect the local product, and control the border outlets located in the Kurdistan region, otherwise roads will be cut off Leading to and from oil refineries in Basra Governorate by farmers. "
Al-Asad added that "the government should be aware of the importance of working in the agricultural calendar and moving towards protecting the local product by controlling the border outlets that illegally import imported products, especially those located within the Kurdistan region, or we will work to cut vital roads leading to oil refineries and paralyze the Basra Governorate movement. In full, we express our total rejection of these practices aimed at destroying the Iraqi agricultural sector. "
He continued, "The Basra province's crop of tomatoes reached 5,000,000 tons per day, which meets the need of the market in all governorates and opening the outlets. The farmers incur heavy losses and burden the citizen."
