    FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVES CHIEF OF MISSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS

    Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Hoshyar Zebari on July 9, 2014, in the office of the ministry, Mr. Patrick Joseph Head of Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Iraq.
    During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Iraqi government and the International Committee of the Red Cross in light of the current crisis for the purpose of delivering urgent humanitarian assistance to the internally displaced and stranded in the conflict zones.
    For his part, accept Mr. Joseph efforts by the mission to raise awareness in the area of ​​respect for human rights and the application of international humanitarian law, through coordination and cooperation with relevant government agencies, and pointed to the progress made in this area by military leaders and Iraqi security forces and their desire to practice by members and employees of those forces.
    The Minister stressed the government's commitment to its international obligations and respect for international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians from the dangers of the conflict.
    The meeting was attended by Undersecretary for multilateral relations and head of the legal department and agency
