Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi asserted that Iraq would not be a launching pad for any attack on Saudi Arabia, in response to doubts about the launch of drones targeting the royal palace in Riyadh last January from Iraq.

And Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Kazemi stressed, during a long-awaited visit to Saudi Arabia to strengthen economic and security relations between the two countries, that his country would not become a launching pad for any attack on the Kingdom, according to the French Press Agency, "Agence France Presse."
In January, explosive drones crashed in the main royal palace in Riyadh, in an attack in the United States, citing US officials as saying that the planes that launched it were launched from neighboring Iraq .
Saudi officials have not publicly disclosed any details of the attack, which was reported to have targeted the sprawling Al Yamamah complex .
But this news raised concern in a country that is constantly being attacked by missiles and drones bombed by the Houthis, who are supported by Iran from Yemen and against whom Riyadh has led a military alliance for six years .
In response to a question about this adoption, Al-Kazemi said that what the armed group had declared was "not true," stressing that the attack was not launched from Iraq .
After a meeting that, according to a number of aides to the Iraqi prime minister, lasted for several hours with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Al-Kazemi told reporters, "We will not allow any aggression against the kingdom."
He added, "As for talking about attacks from Iraq, there were no attacks," adding that "there are attempts by some to press accusations to hit the relations."
Al-Kazemi's visit to Riyadh comes after the Arar border crossing between the two countries was officially reopened in November, after it was closed in 1990 following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait under Saddam Hussein's rule, and it was not officially opened except for the Hajj seasons.
