    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Kurdistan Democratic Party member Wafa Muhammad Karim revealed today, Sunday (September 15, 2024), the most important files that were resolved by the federal government delegation during its visit to the region.
Mohammed Karim told Baghdad Today, "The most important file is the customs issue, which is the main point that was agreed upon, which is the customs tariff from Basra to Zakho, and it will be one tariff."
He added, "The visit decided the region's revenues from ports and taxes, because according to Article 114, half of the revenues go to the federal government, and this is what happened."
He pointed out that "the unification and equality of salaries between employees in the region and the federal government was discussed, as happened in the case of retirees."
He pointed out that "the issue that was postponed is the oil file, as the issue is not related to Baghdad or Erbil, so it was postponed until the end of this year, in the hope of reaching a tripartite agreement between Baghdad, Erbil and Ankara."
It is noteworthy that an informed source revealed, on Monday (September 9, 2024), the details of the meeting of Finance Minister Taif Sami and her discussions with Kurdish officials in the Kurdistan Regional Government, during her visit to Erbil .
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the Minister of Finance asked the regional government to cooperate with it and provide it with accurate information about the size of revenues and financial returns, as well as the tax rate, as well as providing the Ministry of Finance with complete information about the security services and their numbers in full, and not to appoint any employee except with the approval of the federal Ministry of Finance ."
He added, "Sami also requested the removal of similar and repeated names that receive more than one salary, especially from security personnel who receive social welfare salaries or from the Political Prisoners Foundation ."
The source said, "It was agreed not to delay the salary for last August, and it will be disbursed in the coming days, and before the middle of the month by the Ministry of Finance. The issue of localization in the banks was also discussed, and the procedures will be completed before the end of this year ."
Federal Minister of Finance Taif Sami confirmed last Sunday that the joint meeting between the delegation of the Ministerial Council for the Economy and the Economic Council of the Kurdistan Region discussed the joint financial files, in order to reach solutions to the financial issues related to the two parties .
The Minister of Finance stated, according to a statement by the Ministry, that "the talks represent a historic opportunity to achieve financial reconciliation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region," stressing "the importance of enhancing financial cooperation between the two parties and reaching sustainable solutions to outstanding financial issues ."
She pointed out that "agreeing on a fair mechanism for distributing oil revenues and border crossings will contribute to enhancing confidence and economic stability in the country ."
The Federal Ministerial Council for the Economy and its counterpart in the Kurdistan Region held a meeting in the city of Erbil yesterday, Sunday, in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, to discuss the controversial issues between the two sides .
In the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Economy Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government Qubad Talabani, along with a number of ministers and officials concerned from both sides, the "resolution of outstanding issues with emphasis on respecting the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region " was discussed.
According to a statement published on the Kurdistan Regional Government website, Masrour Barzani stressed in the meeting the “necessity for the federal government to treat all parts of Iraq fairly, and to be a government for all regions and provinces, and just as it defends the rights of the citizens of Basra and Baghdad, it must equally defend the rights of the citizens of the Kurdistan Region as well .”
