The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has highlighted the relationship between democracy and artificial intelligence through its roles in the field of journalism, which the international organization considers the basis of democracies in the world.
The international organization said, through a printed publication on the occasion of this day, entitled (Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Journalism), that "democracy and its connection to journalism may go through a dangerous curve, due to artificial intelligence, which has become a source of threat to journalism," through indicators and trends monitored by UNESCO in its periodic report prepared by the Communication and Information Sector. The
Humanities Sector of the international organization also confirmed, in another publication on this occasion, entitled (Artificial Intelligence and Democracy), that "artificial intelligence may play unimaginable roles in electoral processes and political participation, negatively and positively," noting that the world must prepare for what awaits it through the fourth revolution 4.0.
In contrast, the UNESCO Iraq Office highlighted these challenges today, Sunday, in Sulaymaniyah Governorate with a group of Iraqi female and male journalists as part of a specialized training course on the rights of journalists and artificial intelligence.
Through its programs in Iraq, UNESCO seeks to promote the concepts of freedom of the press and media, and to use modern technologies, including ethical artificial intelligence, to monitor indicators of media development, safety and security for journalists.
