Baghdad Operations Commander, Lieutenant General Walid Khalifa Al-Tamimi, clarified today, Sunday, the authorities responsible for the entry of building materials into agricultural and residential areas.
Al-Tamimi said, "Baghdad Operations does not have the authority to grant any citizen approval to build, whether on agricultural lands or pure land titles."
He explained, "Citizens can review the administrative departments within the residential area and obtain official approvals regarding the entry of building materials, as they are the competent authorities in this regard."
Baghdad Operations Command announced - earlier - the formation of a joint committee to evaluate agricultural areas and allow the entry of building materials into them, while indicating the mechanism for allowing the entry of building materials into some agricultural areas.
Baghdad Operations Commander, Lieutenant General Walid Khalifa Al-Tamimi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There are agricultural areas that are almost completely built, ranging in area from 80-90%," indicating that "a committee has been formed from the Baghdad Municipality, Baghdad Governorate, Baghdad Operations, and Joint Operations, to inventory these areas and give the percentages of completion of construction in them; for the purpose of allowing the entry of construction materials into them."
He pointed out that "some agricultural areas have obtained official approvals for the entry of building materials, as the buildings are approximately 95% complete."
Regarding the cases of some checkpoints preventing the entry of building materials into agricultural areas, Al-Tamimi confirmed that "the Baghdad Operations Command has no problem with the entry of building materials into agricultural lands, but there must be a letter from the municipality with approval, and we, in turn, submit this letter to the Baghdad Municipality. If the latter approves, we will allow the entry of building materials into any agricultural area according to the official agency."
