Baghdad/Al-Masala: Amid escalating political tensions in Iraq, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani finds himself facing increasing pressure from political forces seeking to obstruct the work of his government.
This political escalation is evident in mutual accusations and attempts to tarnish the government’s reputation, the most prominent of which includes the “wiretapping network” case, which has sparked widespread controversy recently.
In his speech on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday, Al-Sudani did not focus much on the eavesdropping issue, but he stressed the continuity of his government’s work in implementing its reform program and combating corruption. Al-Sudani explained that the government is making steady progress in achieving its goals, pointing to tangible successes in several key files.

    Growing challenges and internal threats

Al-Sudani’s government faces major challenges from internal political forces seeking to undermine its achievements. Cross-government files are being used as a means of destabilizing and disrupting the government’s efforts. These attempts come at a time when pressure is increasing on Al-Sudani by the “Coordination Framework,” which is witnessing an escalation in its position against the government.
In the context of these tensions, Al-Sudani held a meeting with the leader of the “Hikma” movement, Ammar Al-Hakim, where the issue of strengthening the role of the judiciary in combating corruption and prosecuting the corrupt was discussed.
It seems that these meetings seek to support the government in facing internal crises and to confront attempts at obstruction.

    Political pressure and future threats

These developments come at a time when attempts are increasing to undermine the role of Al-Sudani and his government, by imposing conditions and political pressures.
Some political forces are seeking to highlight hot issues such as combating corruption and resolving the electricity crisis, at the expense of the progress made in other issues including improving basic services and infrastructure.
There are doubts about the intention of some parties to influence Al-Sudani’s second term, as they promote issues such as “theft of the century” and “the eavesdropping network” in an exaggerated manner to tarnish the reputation of the government. In contrast, Al-Sudani confirmed his ability to face challenges, emphasizing his government’s achievements in developing the infrastructure and the energy file, where he achieved a production of 27 thousand megawatts for the first time.

    Ministerial reshuffle and political future

Al-Sudani indicated that there are imminent ministerial changes based on performance evaluation, and stressed his government’s commitment to holding the corrupt accountable, enhancing security, and completing major projects such as the Faw Port. Al-Sudani also stressed his firm position of standing at an equal distance from all political forces, which highlights his efforts to maintain political balance.

    analysis

In an analysis of the situation, political analyst Mujasha' Al-Tamimi believes that the crisis between Al-Sudani and the Coordination Framework forces could destabilize political stability. Some forces have been accused of working as opponents of Al-Sudani, which further complicates the crisis. Al-Tamimi also pointed out that Al-Sudani has succeeded in gaining popular support.
As these challenges persist, it remains to be seen how the political situation in Iraq will evolve, and whether Al-Sudani will be able to overcome these obstacles, maintain the stability of his government, and achieve its reform goals.
