, Minister of Transport, Nasser Al-Shibli, announced, on Tuesday, the cost of the Al-Faw port project, while indicating that it will save Iraq.
"The Faw port is an important economic project that will save Iraq and supplement its budget," Al-Shibli said in a press conference attended by Mawazine News.
He added, "The Faw port will be able to receive large ships, and the depth of the Faw port will be more than 19 meters, in agreement with the executing company."
He pointed out, "The port of Faw is a strategic project that will connect the east with the west through the dry canal."
He stated, "The cost of the Al-Faw port is two billion and 625 million dollars, with a completion period of three years and six months," noting that "the Korean company has completed the eastern breakwater with a length of 8 km, the western 16 km, and the western breakwater is the longest in the world and entered the Guinness Book."
