The Minister of Transport, Nasser Al-Shibli, revealed today, Tuesday, that there are contracts for complementary facilities in the Faw port, the cost of which may reach 40 billion dollars, while the cost of the port as infrastructure does not exceed 7 billion dollars.
In a clarification to the statement of the Director of Ports, during his hosting of an account statement program on Iraq 24 screen, Al-Shibli said that the entire infrastructure of Al-Faw Port, with the remaining 85 berths, does not exceed $7 billion.
He explained that the port, according to the designs, will hopefully contain various facilities not only related to the Ministry of Transport, but also to various ministries, as it is hoped that the port will contain an airport, a tourist city, a power station and a water desalination plant, and each one is contracted by the relevant ministries.
Thus, the sums for these facilities are approximately 6 times the cost of the Faw port alone.
