    Baghdad - People  
    On Wednesday, the Ministry of Electricity announced its intention to discuss the gas file with Tehran next week, in conjunction with high temperatures.

    Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Abadi said in an interview with the official newspaper, followed by "People," (April 28, 2021), that "Electricity Minister Majid Hantoush will head next week, heading a ministerial delegation, to the Islamic Republic of Iran to discuss with officials there regarding cooperation and coordination between the two sides in the field of Electricity. "  
    Al-Abadi explained that "the Iraqi ministerial delegation in Tehran will discuss with Iranian officials the issue of stabilizing Iranian gas supplies prepared for production plants in Iraq with the approaching summer season, and informing everyone that the electricity file in Iraq has become a ruling and vital file."  
    He added that "the Iranian side is currently supplying Iraq with 20 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, and this quantity does not meet Iraq's need to operate the electrical stations that depend on this gas, and whose actual need during the summer reaches 70 million standard cubic feet per day."  
    And that "the Minister of Electricity will also discuss the file of debts owed to Iran by Iraq, which amount to 4 billion dollars."
