The State Company for Samarra Drug Laboratories announced, on Saturday, that it has concluded an investment contract to establish two new lines for the production of anesthetic gas and medical oxygen gas.
Deputy Director General of the General Company for Samarra Pharmaceuticals, Khaled Mohieddin, said, "In implementation of the directives of the Minister of Industry and Minerals to operate and rehabilitate the stalled factories, the company has taken the initiative to rehabilitate and operate factories that have been stalled for a long time," according to the "Wa".
He pointed out that "the company has entered into an investment contract with the Emirati Al-Wakia Company to establish two new production lines, one of which is to produce nitrous oxide gas (anesthetic gas) for surgical operations, which has been suspended since 2003, which is one of the important and only lines in the country."
He added that "the contract includes the development of a new line for the production of medical oxygen to raise the production capacity to 100 thousand liters, in order to contribute to filling the shortage of the Ministry of Health and Iraqi hospitals from it."
Mohieddin revealed, "The end of the rehabilitation works for the intravenous solutions factory in Nineveh, which was rehabilitated in cooperation with the UNDP of the United Nations Development Organization, is preparing to operate it after it stopped working due to the destruction it suffered as a result of terrorist operations and liberation battles in Mosul," indicating that "The company's future plan is to add new production lines for the production of other medical supplies to cover the Ministry of Health's need for them."
