    The Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Karim al-Khafaji, announced the agreement to unify the agricultural calendar with the Kurdistan region.
    The ministry said in a statement on the sidelines of a press conference that Al-Khafaji gathered with the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government, which was seen by "Economy News", that "a joint committee was formed headed by each of the Ministers of Agriculture with the aim of coordination and discussion between the two parties and addressing any emergency problem, especially in the field Animal health, due to the presence of communicable diseases, especially from neighboring countries.
    He added, "A specialized technical committee was formed to diagnose animal diseases and the central laboratory was opened in front of the region to analyze animal diseases to be joint coordination in this regard, which is an important achievement."
    Al-Khafaji added, "It has been agreed to involve employees of the Ministry of Agriculture in the Kurdistan Regional Government in the workshops and courses organized in the Ministry of Agriculture inside and outside the country, and an agreement will be made with the Ministry of Planning in this aspect." 
    Regarding the entitlements of the region’s farmers, Al-Khafaji said, “There is a joint committee that was agreed upon to hold a meeting during these days to estimate the region’s share, approve it and send it to the Ministry of Commerce to disburse the entitlements of the farmers, after it was approved by Parliament as it is dues enforceable by the Ministry of Finance.” "The parliament issued a statement to pay these dues to peasants and farmers, whether they are in the center and south or in the Kurdistan region."
    He pointed out that "an understanding was reached on the unification of the agricultural calendar due to the importance of the issue to determine the seasons of decline in production, and the formation of an agricultural marketing company, as well as the commercial exchange of agricultural commodities."
    He stressed that "it was agreed to tackle smuggling, especially after the meeting of the opinion committee in the ministry, in the presence of poultry producers, and a mechanism was put in place on how to control smuggling," noting that "there are more than 6000 poultry projects that have begun to work, the number of workers in which is more than 600 thousand workers, and these projects are exposed to Loss due to smuggling and the entry of spoiled and expired chickens.
    He pointed out, "Allowing the movement of feed materials as a first stage, and the issue of transporting ready-made feed will be considered," explaining that "there is a laboratory of the Department of Livestock Resources that determines the extent of the readiness of feed to outlets or other, dispensing with import and achieving self-sufficiency from it."
    And he indicated that "it was decided to authorize the Ministry of Agriculture in the Kurdistan Regional Government to give the international veterinary health certificate to local animal products exported outside the country in coordination with the Department of Livestock and the Veterinary Department in Baghdad."
    And he continued, "It was also agreed to open a representation of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in the region and vice versa to address most problems, whether in plant production or the poultry industry."
