, the International Labor Organization said that at least 220 million people are expected to remain unemployed globally this year, which is much more than pre-pandemic levels.
The United Nations organization expects an improvement to drop the number to 205 million unemployed next year, but a level still higher than the 187 million recorded in 2019 before the great damage caused by the Corona virus crisis.
According to ILO models, this matches the global unemployment rate of 6.3 percent for this year, falling to 5.7 percent next year, though still higher than the pre-pandemic rate of 5.4 percent in 2019.

"Unemployment does not include the impact on the labor market," Kuhn said, noting that while employment in the United States has resumed after significant job losses, many employees elsewhere, especially Europe, are still working under reduced working hours programmes.
