    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

An Iraqi city within Diyala Governorate, which is inhabited by a Kurdish majority, seeks to separate electrically from the central government and be linked to the region's electricity.
The city of Khanaqin suffers from major problems in the supply of electric power, especially as it is linked within the national system in Diyala, which witnesses frequent targeting of power transmission towers and terrorist operations.
The Director of Culture and Arts in Khanaqin, Abbas al-Arkwazi, said in a statement to Kurdish media, “One of the most prominent demands and solutions for electricity treatment is the provision of electricity to Khanaqin by the regional government through the Garmian unit, which is a radical and final solution or solutions that address 90% of the problem of electricity in Khanaqin and provides 22 hours of electricity supply. at least."

And Al-Arkawazi indicated that “the administration of Khanaqin responded to the demands of linking with Kurdistan” “It is not within the authority of the administration of Khanaqin to address the regional government, but to address the government of Diyala only, and that the request to supply Khanaqin with electricity from Kurdistan is due to sovereign coordination between the Federal Ministry of Electricity and the regional government.”

Al-Arkuzi stressed that the regional government does not mind supplying Khanaqin with electricity, but it requires coordination and official action from Diyala and the Federal Ministry of Electricity, noting that the regional government is implementing an effective and efficient plan to supply citizens with electricity according to established quotas that cannot be bypassed, which ensures the continuity of the electric current without problems.

He added, "The regional government expressed earlier its willingness to supply the governorates of Diyala, Kirkuk and Salah al-Din with electricity, provided that fuel for the stations is secured by the federal government and bear the costs of production."

Against the background of the deterioration of the electricity supply and the crisis of protests in Khanaqin district and Diyala areas, specialists and officials demanded coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government to address a large part of the electricity crisis after the deterioration of the Iranian line and its continuous interruptions for technical and financial reasons.
