{Local: Al-Furat News} Minister of Transport Nasser Hussein Bandar Al-Shibli confirmed to the Turkish ambassador, on Sunday, that Iraq is the shortest way to link east and west.
And the ministry's media said in a statement that {Euphrates News} received a copy of it that "the Minister of Transport met at the ministry's headquarters the Turkish ambassador, and during the meeting, the railway connection project between the two countries was discussed."
The minister said, "This visit comes in line with the orientations of the Iraqi government to open up to neighboring countries to serve the country's great interests."
He stressed "the importance of rail linking between the two countries through the Iraqi ports to Turkey, as Iraq is the shortest rail link between the East and the West."
For his part, the Turkish ambassador requested holding more meetings between the two sides in the presence of a wide range of technicians and specialists in this field to expedite work on activating the railway link between the two countries.
In conclusion, Minister Al-Shibli commended this visit, and the Turkish ambassador thanked the Ministry of Transport, represented by the Minister, for the warm hospitality and reception.
