    Baghdad Today - Kurdistan
Media professor Adalat Abdullah commented today, Sunday (November 3, 2024), on the form of alliances on which the next Kurdistan Regional Government will be built, indicating that there are several scenarios for its formation.
Abdullah told Baghdad Today, "The first scenario is for the government to be formed by the two main parties in the region, in light of the seats they won in the last elections."
He added, "The second scenario could be an alliance between the Democratic Party and the New Generation Movement, with other parties that won several seats, to reach half plus one, but this scenario is unlikely and does not seem practical due to the large areas of influence of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan."
He pointed out that "the third scenario is that the Kurdistan Democratic Party will not be able to form the government, which will give the Patriotic Union, as the second largest winning party, the opportunity to form the government."
He stressed that "the process of forming a government is complicated, unless there is a compromise on the policies that led to tension between the two main parties," adding that "the presence of a new spirit could facilitate the process of forming a government in an unexpected way."
An informed source revealed, on Wednesday (October 30, 2024), that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan has begun to communicate with all the political forces that won the elections, with the exception of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, starting this week.
The source told Baghdad Today, "A delegation from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan will begin visiting all the parties that won the elections after the final results are announced, with the exception of the Kurdistan Democratic Party."
He added, "The Patriotic Union aims through these visits to know the opinions of the winning blocs and repair relations with them. The visits will also include the New Generation Movement, after which the Union will begin negotiations to form the Kurdistan Regional Government with the Democratic Party."
