And the advisor to the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab, told {Euphrates News} that "the contradiction in the water reserves in the dams affected the ability to generate electric power," noting that "the water shortage affected the Hamrin Dam and the complete halt of electric power generation."
"The decrease in water reserves also led to the suspension of the remaining dams from generating electric power," he added.
Diab noted, "There are other effects of water scarcity, including the inability to secure the full water share for the marsh areas, especially the Hawizeh Marsh on the eastern side, which was affected after the Karkheh River supplies were completely cut off."
