Today, Friday (May 17, 2024), the Ministry of Finance discussed with the World Bank the issue of reforming the retirement system in Iraq, while stressing that it is an important step towards ensuring its sustainability and improving future opportunities for citizens.
The ministry stated in a statement received by “Baghdad Today” that, “Within the framework of providing technical assistance to reform the retirement system in Iraq, a delegation from the National Retirement Authority headed by the Chairman of the Authority, Maher Hussein Rashid, and the membership of the Director General of the State Employees’ Retirement Fund, the Deputy Chairman of the Authority, and the advanced staff attended the coordination meeting.” With a group of members of the World Bank, which will be held for two days (16-17) in Istanbul.
She added, "The meeting aims to discuss the issue of reforming the retirement system in Iraq, in an important step towards ensuring its sustainability and improving future opportunities for citizens."
She noted that "during the meeting, a program was proposed capable of providing technical, technological and technical assistance to facilitate the process of providing services to retirees."
The Ministry explained, according to the statement, that “the authority’s delegation welcomed the bank’s assistance,” indicating that “discussions are still continuing regarding the details of providing assistance.”
