The Director General of Kurdistan Customs, Samal Abdul Rahman, confirmed today, Thursday (May 16, 2024), that all the region’s ports adhere to the instructions of the federal government.
Abdul Rahman said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “any instructions issued by Baghdad regarding imported goods, we adhere to them, and the conditions apply to all ports in the Kurdistan region.”
He added, "The region's ports do not bring in any prohibited materials, and what is published about the entry and smuggling of prohibited materials is an insult to our ports, which record a high indicator of compliance with conditions and instructions, whether those issued by Baghdad or the regional government."
Data and reports indicate that there are more than 30 outlets in Kurdistan, including only 6 outlets officially recognized by Baghdad, and 5 outlets recognized by the regional government, which means that approximately 20 other outlets are not even controlled by the regional government and smuggling is active in them. .
