Shafaq News/ A source from the coordination framework revealed the reasons for the "failure" of the agreement between the framework and the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, and it was not possible to hold the meeting scheduled for Wednesday between the two sides.
The source told Shafak news agency, "The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, told the head of the Coordinating Framework delegation, the leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Hadi al-Amiri, who was going to al-Hanana to meet al-Sadr at his residence to complete the negotiations, of the need to resolve some issues that al-Sadr had stipulated during the two previous meetings with the framework before everything".
And that "the matter is related to resolving the participation of the head of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, in the next government, that is, refusing the latter's candidacy for any government position, in reference to the position of Vice President of the Republic, which al-Maliki's coalition aspires to."
He added, "Also, removing the leader of the (Azm) alliance, Khamis al-Khanjar, from the coordinating framework and preventing him from entering into any future alliances, and all of this is just pressure exerted by al-Sadr on the framework to accept the political map whose last features he defined."
However, the source added, "These differences will be resolved to reach a final agreement with al-Sadr and the signing of the document of the largest bloc, which will include the names of the deputies affiliated with it and their signatures on it, in addition to pledges to remain within the coalition to ensure that the deputies do not enter into more than one political alliance."
He pointed out that "a meeting soon will bring together the negotiating committees emanating from the coordination framework and the Sadrist bloc to end the alliance between the two sides before the parliament session scheduled for the ninth of this month."
The source concluded by saying, "Everyone (the framework forces) hopes to form a unified Shiite bloc that reassures all allies to proceed with the implementation of the understandings made by Shiite leaders with Kurdish and Sunni leaders."
And yesterday, Tuesday, an informed political source revealed that a delegation from the coordination framework of the Shiite forces (today) visited Al-Hanana, the residence of the leader of the Sadr movement in the city of Najaf, in an effort to persuade the latter to unite the Shiite house before the first parliamentary session on January 9.
The source, who is from the coordination framework, told Shafaq News Agency, "According to the agreement between the coordination framework and the Sadrist bloc, it is hoped that a delegation comprising representatives of the coordination framework will hold a third meeting with the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr at his residence in Hananah to complete the understandings regarding the formation of the largest bloc concerned with the formation of the government".
He added that "the leaders of the framework see that the unity of the Shiite component confirms the strength of his government that al-Sadr intends to form, especially since the coordination framework has kept the dialogue open with the Sadrist bloc in the hope of achieving the unity of the Shiite house because the break in the contract between them will harm everyone."
He explained that "the upcoming meeting will be under the title of a meeting of the joint committees to agree semi-finally on the controversial points, most of which were agreed to be resolved, including the status and address of the popular crowd, as well as the selection of the next prime minister by Al-Sadr, as well as the corruption files and the referral of those involved in them to the competent authorities." .
Al-Sadr seeks to form a "national majority" government, unlike the forces of the coordination framework, which are trying hard to find a foothold in the next government by forming a consensual government similar to previous governments.
The Sadrist bloc topped the elections with 73 seats, while the total seats for the Coordination Framework forces together amounted to about 60 seats; The State of Law coalition has 33 seats, the Al-Fateh coalition has 17, and the State Forces have 4 seats, in addition to other blocs, of which at least one deputy won in the recent elections.
