The former deputy head of the Human Rights Committee in the House of Representatives, Qusay Al-Shabki, confirmed, on Saturday, that the Kurdistan Region of Iraq is exploiting the file of the displaced for political purposes in light of the failure of the federal government.
Al-Shabki said in an interview seen by / the information /, that "the previous and subsequent governments did not succeed in dealing with the file of the displaced, and this file was not closed throughout this period, and this is a negative indication for the successive governments since the liberation of the territories from the terrorist organization ISIS."
He added, "This file, especially in the Kurdistan region, is being exploited for political and electoral purposes in light of the failure of the federal government to provide decent living requirements for the displaced and compensate them," noting that "even the sums allocated to each family, amounting to one million and 500 thousand Iraqi dinars, did not receive about 80 % of those who returned to their homes these amounts allocated.
Al-Shabki pointed out that “the government today bears the responsibility to end and treat this file, and the role of international organizations in closing this file and ending the suffering of the displaced was not at the required level.” finished/25
