    The Information/Baghdad…
Member of Parliament Abdul Amir Al-Mayahi revealed, on Thursday, the extent of the expected damage to the Basra-Aqaba pipeline project, which the Iraqi government intends to implement, noting that Iraq will lose $29 million daily as a result of the Basra-Aqaba pipeline.
Al-Mayahi said in an interview seen by / the information /, that "we submitted many objections to the Basra-Aqaba pipeline project, and we collected the signatures of members of Parliament to cancel this project, but after returning to it, the Ministry of Oil argued that (the project is still under study and there is no contract it).
He pointed out that "the information we have obtained indicates that the government is proceeding in this direction on the grounds that this project is political," wondering: "How can there be a political project at the expense of the country's wealth, and we categorically reject it, because the current government has no right to proceed with a political project." He squanders public money and goes with the country’s wealth, not to mention that this government is a daily caretaker government that is not obligated to sign any agreement.”
Al-Mayahi explained that “the project is of no economic feasibility for Iraq, and there are several ports and export platforms in Basra governorate, and it carries a high absorptive capacity to export oil,” noting that “the Iraqi government grants oil to Jordan at less than market prices at $15. Within this contract, Jordan demanded to take Transportation fees for the pipeline that will pass through its territory 4.5 dollars per barrel, in addition to 8.5 dollars for licensing rounds, meaning that Iraq will lose about 29 dollars per barrel, which also means that Iraq will lose 29 million dollars daily if one million barrels are exported per day through the said project. finished/25
