An extension that moves to form the largest bloc and threatens to "dissolve Parliament"
Shafaq News/ The "Octoberia" extension movement announced on Thursday the initiative to form the largest parliamentary bloc under the dome of Parliament, which would present a candidate for the next prime minister and form the new government, while making it clear that it would include independent representatives and free representatives from other blocs, or dissolve parliament. in the end.
The extension movement won 9 seats in the Iraqi parliament, and most of its deputies are activists in the protest squares.
The movement pledged, in a statement received to Shafaq News Agency, to "seek to complete the fundamental procedures necessary to start legislating the constitutional amendments, as it is the only way out of the political blockage that occurred previously and is happening now and will continue to occur if these amendments are not made."
The extension movement called for "a peaceful mass movement to pressure the current political system to return to the right path and give priority to the people's interests over narrow factional and partisan interests," reminding the political forces that "the young people who overthrew a government and changed the election law and ran in early elections, are able to do the ball again." With those who thought they were above the constitution and above the law.”
On (February 13, 2022), 17 members of the political extension movement, emanating from the Tishreen protest movement, announced their withdrawal from the movement, against the background of the "deviation" of most of the members representing the movement in the Iraqi parliament, from its internal system.
The "Extension" movement was also subjected to a violent shake in early February, when three members of the movement's general secretariat resigned in protest against the vote of the movement's leader, Alaa al-Rikabi, and six other deputies in favor of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, in the first session of Parliament held during the election of the Presidency of the Council, This is what they considered as a deviation from the basic goals upon which the movement was founded, which is not to allow the ruling political class to continue in their positions.
