Today, Monday, the Iraqi Parliament, the Committee of Martyrs, Victims and Political Prisoners, issued a statement on the occasion of the National Day of Mass Graves.

The committee demanded to expedite the opening of mass graves of victims of the crimes of the Baathist regime and ISIS terrorism.

It also called on the Ministry of Finance to allocate the necessary funds to facilitate the work of the Martyrs Foundation in opening mass graves and compensating the families of the victims of the Anfal operations and chemical bombardment and all those affected by the defunct Baathist regime.

Below is the text of the statement:

This day passes us as the anniversary of the National Day of Mass Graves, which falls on 5/16 of each year, the day on which the first mass grave was opened after the fall of the buried Baathist regime, that regime that unjustly exterminated many of its people and assaulted human sanctities, whether through executions Or his use of chemical weapons, Anfal operations, or burying citizens alive in mass graves during his suppression of the popular uprising in the center, south and north of our beloved country in 1991.

Today, as we celebrate the National Day of Mass Graves, we remember those brutal massacres and the methods that were committed by the staunchest of the former regime, for which humanity droops and heads bow in shame from their brutality. A mother embraces her child and young men of the age of roses, their bodies mingled with each other while they are tied, and other scenes that many did not imagine their brutality.

Unfortunately, these tragedies and crimes did not end after the fall of the buried Baath, but rather its remnants and its criminal extension, represented by the terrorist ISIS terrorist gangs, came to practice the same heinous acts against our people.

We discovered many cemeteries in which innocents were buried in the same style and criminal spirit in which our people of all nationalities, sects and sects were victims, for nothing but because they refused to submit to the takfiri terrorism of ISIS, being lovers of the homeland, freedom and humanity.

On this occasion, the Martyrs Foundation urges to expedite the opening of mass graves for victims of the crimes of the Baathist regime and ISIS terrorism, especially in our provinces and areas liberated from ISIS gangs, for example but not limited to the cemetery of Khasfa, Badush, Speicher and others to learn about the fate of our children whose families live moments of waiting and hope to know their fate, and we demand The Ministry of Finance allocates the necessary funds to facilitate the work of the Martyrs Foundation in opening mass graves and compensating the families of the victims of the Anfal operations and the chemical bombing and all those affected by the defunct Baathist regime. satellite, as well as setting up memorials, and urging the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to internationalize the issue of mass graves and to show the ugliness of the crime committed by the Baath and terrorism in all international forums, and to conclude international agreements to supportAnd gaining experiences from countries that have experience in the field of mass graves, and we demand the Presidency of the Republic and the government to implement the death sentences issued against criminals and terrorists, which have acquired the peremptory degree of fairness to the martyrs and their families and to achieve the justice guaranteed by the constitution and the law.
