US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Jennifer Gavito confirmed that the United States will not abandon Iraq, and that Washington considers Baghdad a strategic partner, and said, "We see Iraq as a partner in the new Iraqi government."
She said that US President Joe Biden seeks to make Iraq a center for stability in the Middle East.
Gavito added that after the American exit from Afghanistan, many believed that the United States was withdrawing from the Middle East and from Iraq, and this is a mistake, because America has an ambitious agenda in Iraq, and considers Iraq a strategic partner, and sees Iraq as a partner in the new Iraqi government.
She indicated that there are various cooperation programs such as exchange programs in which Iraqi researchers and others visit America, and there is access to higher education in Iraq, and initiatives that provide the opportunity for Iraqis to obtain experience in the contracting sector, and to work with companies and institutions.
