His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Baghdad Palace, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Jeanine Plasschaert.
During the meeting, they discussed the general situation in the country, and the existing efforts in addressing many files related to improving the conditions of citizens and the economic situation. Emphasis was placed on supporting the government in implementing its program, responding to the aspirations of the Iraqi people, and improving their living and service conditions.
The role of the United Nations Mission was also discussed, as His Excellency stressed the importance of working and coordinating with the Iraqi authorities in addressing many issues, especially the issue of the displaced, by providing all the supplies and requirements necessary to improve their difficult living conditions, work for their safe return to their homes and cities, and close the displacement file in the country.
The importance of consolidating security and stability in the country, ensuring the safety of citizens, and enhancing communication and dialogue with neighboring countries in discussing files on the basis of common interests, mutual respect and sovereignty, in a way that supports the security and stability of the region and enhances cooperation in sectors of common interest.
