Shafaq News / The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed, on Thursday evening, the Iraqi side a memorandum regarding three Iraqi naval vessels that crossed the territorial waters, asking the authorities to withdraw them immediately.
The ministry stated, in a statement reported by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), that "the Kuwaiti ambassador to Iraq, Tariq Al-Faraj, met this evening with the director of the Arab department in the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Osama Al-Rifai, and handed him a memorandum regarding the violation of the territorial waters by three Iraqi vessels." To the State of Kuwait, and to demand that it withdraw these pieces immediately outside the territorial waters.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry affirmed its readiness to "cooperate with Iraq, as stipulated in the agreement regulating navigation in Khawr Abdullah concluded between the two countries and deposited with the United Nations."
And she stressed the necessity of "respecting the sovereignty of both countries and the State of Kuwait's categorical rejection of any violation that affects its sovereignty and preserving its right to respond in accordance with legal channels," calling on Iraq to "cooperate in everything that would strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and in a way that enhances the security of the two brotherly countries and the stability of the region."
