    Adviser to the Parliamentary Agriculture and Water Committee, Adel Al-Mukhtar, confirmed today, Saturday, that the recent rains are not strong and the dams are still empty, explaining that there has been no change except that it is free primary irrigation rains for crops.
    Al-Mukhtar said in a statement: “The whole world is experiencing climate change and the countries of the basin are more vulnerable to climate changes, and we in Iraq have not fallen a large amount of rain so that we can expect more in neighboring countries,” noting that “the amounts of rain that have fallen are still few and the amount of water stored so far It did not reach 300 million only, while the storage space is 100 billion cubic meters, so the dams are still empty.”
    And he explained that “the recent rains are not strong, mere hours, but mismanagement led to these floods, and if there were sewage, there would be no effect, and no change would occur except that it is free primary irrigation rain for crops, part of which is for the marshes and the other is for the Shatt al-Arab, but in general this is The amount of rain does not change this, the reality of the situation in Iraq.
    And between the Mukhtar, “But the amounts of rain for the neighboring countries will be few and were not like the year 2019, and even if torrents came, they were not in large quantities, but in general we are ready to store the torrents coming from the neighboring countries, specifically Iran, because from Turkey it will go to the dams and we do not have a problem, but in the neighboring countries Iran has depressions of about 30 depressions that will go there in addition to the dry marshes.”
