Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists on social media circulated video clips in which they claimed that the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, entered Kuwait, accompanied by Iraqi security patrols, which sparked an interaction.
For its part, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior published a clarification in a statement it posted on its official page on Twitter, and it said: "The security media... clarification of the video clip circulating on some social media sites, which includes the entry of His Excellency the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, and his entourage through the Abdali border crossing. The Ministry of Interior reports that What is being circulated about the existence of security patrols and special protection that are subject to a sister country is completely and utterly incorrect.
And she continued: "The Ministry of Interior confirms that the protection team accompanying the visiting guest to the State of Kuwait and the vehicles participating in the guest transportation process are vehicles subject to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior in accordance with security procedures and diplomatic protocols."
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior pointed out that Al-Halbousi is "on a private visit to the State of Kuwait."
