Today, Monday, Al-Anbar Governorate announced that Iraqis will be allowed to cross into Syria and for cargo vehicles coming through the Al-Qaim border crossing.
Al-Qaim crossing, which faces the city of Al-Bukamal on the Syrian side, is one of the three border crossings linking the two countries to each other, which are Al-Walid, Fishkhabour and Al-Qaim.
“According to the Iraqi-Syrian agreement, it was agreed that freight cars transporting goods through the Al-Qaim border crossing for Syrian cars will enter Iraq for those whose drivers have multiple visas,” said Suad al-Amiri, the advisor to the Anbar governor for border crossings affairs and the representative of Anbar province in the Board of the Border Crossings Authority.
And she added, “Iraqi cars were also allowed to enter Syria,” noting that “priority includes trucks loaded with perishable goods such as fruits, vegetables, and other foodstuffs,” according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
