    Shafaq News/ The head of Al-Nahrain Network for Supporting Integrity and Transparency, Muhammad Al-Rubaie, confirmed on Tuesday that the Transparency International report reflects the reality of what is happening in Iraq.
    Al-Rubaie said in an interview with Shafaq News agency; "The report issued today for the year 2022 placed Iraq 157th in the world out of 180 countries, with 23 points," noting that "Iraq has been consistent in its global ranking since last year's report."



    Al-Rubaie added; “The citizen and some authorities question the validity of the report because of what happened in the case of looting tax deposits last year,” he added, adding that “the report did not include this case (the theft of the century) because the report extends the period applied to it from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022, and therefore it did not That includes the last three months of the past year."
    Al-Rubaie explained that "the Transparency Organization has 13 indicators, only five of which are applied to Iraq," pointing out that "these five indicators have a variation, there is an increase and there is a decrease, and among the indicators that led to an improvement in the situation of Iraq was the government's program when it prioritized it in combating corruption." , while the government index declined in combating corruption in the defense sector, as Iraq is high risk in this sector.
    And he continued with regard to "the civil space classification index from civil liberty, which was considered closed, and also the global peace index rose by two degrees, but it is still very late."
    Al-Rubaie stressed that "these indicators reflect the reality of what exists in Iraq within these five indicators," calling on "the Iraqi government to review these outputs and adopt them to combat corruption without entering into other matters that are not evaluated internationally."
    Al-Rubaie indicated that "the organization is in the process of concluding a bilateral cooperation agreement with the Federal Integrity Commission during the coming weeks in order to be feeders of information directly from government agencies and other relevant parties, which would help Iraq in addressing corruption and improving our international reputation."
    Transparency International issued its report today, Tuesday, and ranked Iraq seventh in the list of the most corrupt Arab countries, and ranked 157 in the most transparent countries in the world for the year 2022 out of 180 countries listed.
