Shafaq News/ The Federal Supreme Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq) decided to reject the request of former MP Laith Al-Dulaimi regarding his non-resignation.

The court considered the request to issue a state order in the case a duty to reject, attributing this to two reasons: the first is the lack of urgency in it, and the second: it believes that deciding on it means entering into the origin of the right and giving a prior opinion of the filed lawsuit.

The decision was issued by agreement based on the provisions of Article (94) of the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005 and Article (5/Second) of the Federal Supreme Court Law No. (30) for the year 2005 amended by Law No. (25) for the year 2021, and is absolutely binding.
And the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, issued a decision to terminate the membership of Representative Laith al-Dulaimi, based on the latter’s resignation.
Al-Dulaimi announced the rejection of the decision to exclude him from the Iraqi parliament, which was taken by the speaker of the parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, while he described the decision as "illegal and arbitrary", and called for deterring and confronting the "dictatorship".
It is noteworthy that Representative Laith al-Dulaimi was a member of the "Taqdad" party led by al-Halbousi, and was nominated within the ranks of the party for the regions north of Baghdad in the last parliamentary elections that took place in October 2021.
On April 22, 2022, al-Halbousi dismissed al-Dulaimi from the Taqaddam party because of his "non-compliance with the contexts and directives of the leadership of the Taqaddam Party and his violation of the rules governing the internal system."
Last June, MP Laith al-Dulaimi became a member of the Iraqi Parliament for the Sovereignty Alliance led by Khamis al-Khanjar.
