Political analyst Hazem Al-Bawi warned, today, Friday, against the Parliament Presidency procrastinating the election law file and not including it on the Parliament's agenda.
Al-Bawi said, in an interview reported by the reporter (Iraqi Media News Agency / INA), that "the parliament has received the draft of the new election law and the parliamentary signatures to include it on the agenda as soon as possible, and the pretext of obstructing it has been dropped.
He added, "Discussing the electoral law, according to the parliamentary committees supervising its formulation, has become an urgent necessity to correct the democratic path in the country during the next stage."
He pointed out that “the deputies who submitted a request to the Presidency of the Parliament to include the law on the agenda of the upcoming parliamentary sessions are supposed not to be lenient with the continued state of procrastination regarding it, as happened with the dollar crisis , which the Presidency of Parliament tolerated in the issue of its inclusion on the agenda despite the suffering that I caused it to the Iraqi people.”
And he stressed the necessity of “the Legislative Council's commitment to its internal system, especially the paragraph on the inclusion of important laws or sensitive files after gaining the support of 50 signatures by the representatives.”
