The Parliamentary Education Committee revealed, on Wednesday, the preparation of a plan to establish a (development fund) to address the file of the lack of school buildings, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the relevant authorities.
Committee member Zaytoun al-Dulaimi said, in an interview with the official newspaper, that "there is a need to establish 8 thousand schools, and this number cannot be accomplished according to the specific capabilities of the state and its annual budgets within a year or two, as it takes a period of no less than five years to build these schools." Al-Dulaimi
added, "The number of students is increasing, and therefore there is an urgent need to complete new school buildings annually, indicating that this file can be addressed through the establishment of a (Development Fund), which depends on filling the country's need for educational or health institutions from Through investment plans or deferred payment in order to shorten the time and solve the infrastructure crises resulting from the past years.
She explained, "It is hoped that this plan will be adopted and directed towards investment companies, and the payment will be on credit in the form of installments or financial payments to establish new institutions and provide them with technical and logistical accessories and fully equip them, noting that this fund aims to address the imbalance in the lack of service institutions."
