The Ministry of the Interior prepared a study, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, to reduce the entry of foreign workers into the country, revealing that there are moves with the Saudi side to reduce the price of the Iraqi traveler's entry visa to the Kingdom's lands.
The Director of Residence Affairs at the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence in the Ministry, Brigadier General Durgham Al-Tamimi, said in a statement to "Al-Sabah": The Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the regional government, prepared a study to reduce the entry of foreign workers into the country, in order to contribute to creating job opportunities for the unemployed youth. Indicating that the study included delay in granting visas to the countries from which the workers come.
And he indicated that there is a large spread of foreign workers in the country who enter the country in two ways, the first during the season of religious visits, and the second through Kurdistan, and then they roam within the provinces and regions after the expiry of the period of residence and who work in various fields besides that they constitute a major security and societal imbalance, recalling that The Law of the Ministry of Labor stipulates that there should be parity in work between foreign and local workers, and it also stipulates the entry of skilled workers, but not workers in the field of services. Al-Tamimi stressed that the country has concluded several international agreements that provide for reciprocity, including the agreement with the Lebanese side that grants a visa inside the airport, and there are moves to open up to the Gulf countries, especially the Saudi side, as there is a move to reciprocate with the Saudi side and reduce the price of the entry visa for the Iraqi traveler to the territories.
