Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs stressed the need to organize foreign workers in the country and settle their status legally.
The ministry stated in a statement, "The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, met with the Syrian Ambassador to Iraq, Satam Jadaan Al-Dandah," noting that "the minister stressed during the meeting the importance of organizing foreign workers in the country and settling their status legally, especially those who entered Iraq illegally." .
Al-Asadi stressed, according to the statement, that "the Ministry of Labor is working to settle the conditions of foreign workers in accordance with the stipulated instructions, and this matter does not concern Syrian workers only," noting that "after the decision of the Council of Ministers, a committee was formed that includes each of the ministries: Labor, Interior, And foreign affairs, and a recommendation will be submitted to the Council of Ministers regarding the settlement of the conditions of Syrian workers, and this will be applied to those who entered Iraq before the decision was approved.
And he continued, "Foreign workers in the country will be subject to the retirement and social security law for workers, as well as the labor law, and according to the decision of the Council of Ministers to employ 50% of the national labor with the corresponding foreign labor."
Al-Asadi clarified his vision for "the Ministry of Labor to be a sovereign ministry in view of the role and large tasks it undertakes and the services it provides to wide segments of society," pointing to "the importance of benefiting from productive foreign labor with expertise that is not available in the country."
For his part, the Syrian ambassador praised "the minister's great vision with concepts, which expresses the extent of cohesion and brotherhood between the two brotherly countries, and his endeavor to find real solutions to the reality of society."
