On Thursday, Iraqi elites sent a protest note to the Secretary-General of the United Nations against "UNAMI."

The memorandum strongly criticized the silence of the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) and the representative of the Secretary-General regarding the "serious violations" of public freedoms and human rights, and warned of the emergence of a new dictatorship in the country under the auspices of the United Nations.

The number of signatories to the memorandum was close to 700 people, including senior researchers, academics, journalists and well-known activists.
